Nan worked in government offices during WWII and at Drake University. After her children were grown, she became a DMPS substitute teacher and fourth grade teacher at Woodlawn School. Following retirement, (Nanny) helped care for her grandchildren, while building deep relationships.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin (2002), and a granddaughter. Nan is survived by her son, Ted Bowen (Carmen), and daughters, Barbara Larson (Gary), Melinda Co;;ins (Jerry), and six grandchildren.
Nan's interests were many, but family always came first. She cherished her many close friendships. Nan loved music, playing her organ(s) and giving programs to groups. She was a member of the Plymouth Church Choir, Deacons, Adeline, PEO Chapter JK, Delta Gamma, and Kappa Delta Phi.
