Funeral services for Pamela Anne Peterson Baldwin, 67 of St. Joseph, formerly of Winnsboro, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro with the Rev. Shawn Hornsby, Rev. Johnny Hankins, Rev. Wanda Smith and Rev. Fran Guy officiating. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, February 28,2017 at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Lone Cedar Cemetery near Winnsboro under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Pamela was born to Kelly Leon Peterson, Sr. and Tubith Ernestine McKinney Peterson on December 7, 1949, in Winnfield, and passed from this life Friday, February 24, 2017 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Pam was a graduate of Winnfield High School and attained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana Tech University. She also attained her Master’s degree and +30 in Elementary Education from Northeast Louisiana University. Pam had a true love for her profession and taught Kindergarten in both public and private school systems for 37 years and mentored many other teachers entering the profession. Always willing to participate and contribute, Pam volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother/Girl Scout Troup leader, Choir & Handbell Choirs and United Methodist Women at First United Methodist Church. She also offered her time to countless other school, church and community projects. Her greatest love, however, was her family and her true passion was hosting family gatherings and reunions. Loving mother, devoted wife and faithful servant of the Lord, she was an inspiring presence in the lives of those privileged to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kelly and Ernestine Peterson, one brother Kerry M. Peterson and her son Brian Thomas Baldwin.
Pam is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Tommy Baldwin of St. Joseph; brother and sister-in-law Kelly and Judy Peterson of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law Ben and Angela Baldwin of Minden; daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Chris Lundgren of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Baldwin of Shreveport, Ethan and Elle Ann Baldwin of Minden and Rhodes Lundgren of Baton Rouge; numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be David McLemore, George Price, Jr., John Stapp, Rudy McIntyre, Mike Benoit, and Jerry Golden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Pam’s honor to Franklin Parish Library or The University of Texas Medical Center – MD Anderson Cancer Center.
