Dora Parker, 73, of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at a local nursing home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Dakota Dunes. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at church. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 PM at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dora Rose, daughter of James and Frances (Shanahan) Parker, was born October 13, 1943, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She grew up at Nebraska City where she graduated from Lourdes Central High School in 1962. Dora then attained a B.S. in Medical Record Science from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska and earned a M.S. in Healthcare Administration from the College of Saint Francis in Joliet, Illinois. She then worked in Medical Records Administration in Denver, CO; Omaha, NE; Sioux City, IA; Tucson, AZ; and Phoenix, AZ, before retiring and returning to the Sioux City area.

Dora was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church.

Survivors include: a brother Bill Parker and his wife Mary of Dakota Dunes, SD; Nieces and nephews: Jennifer and Mark Ward of Prior Lake, MN; Stephanie and Alan Wieskamp of North Liberty, IA; Jason and Stacie Parker of Maple Grove, MN; Elizabeth and Brett Lindberg of West Point, NY; and Michael and Krystal Parker of Iowa City, IA; great-nephews: Joshua Ward, Alex Wieskamp, Thomas Lindberg, Zachary Wieskamp, and Everett Parker; and great-nieces: Gabrielle Parker, Grace Lindberg, Gianna Parker and Sophia Lindberg. Dora was preceded in death by her parents James and Frances Parker.
