Gary Michael Love left this earth for his heavenly home at 12:06 A.M. on February 11, 2017 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Brooks Chapel with Tracy Byrd, officiating.

Gary was born on November 20, 1946 in Canyon to Carroll Ned Love and Audrey Jean Lehnick. He grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School in 1965.

He married Sonja Leigh Honea on September 10, 1965 in Tulia. He worked for Stevenson Motor Company for 18 years. He owned his own auto repair business, Loves Garage, for 8 ½ years. He retired from in TXDOT in 2014.
Gary had a natural talent for working on and restoring cars. Gary loved riding his motorcycles to especially to Big Bend National Park. He was interested in any and everything about Indians, arrowheads, pottery, guns and knives.

Gary loved his family, cats and friends. His special cat, Skitz, was his best buddy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; dad, Carroll Ned Love; brother, Roy Love; and a nephew, Russell Honea.

Survivors include his wife of 51 ½ years, Sonja; mother, Jean Love of Amarillo; brother, Kevin Love and wife Maggie of Colleyville; sister-in-law, Juretta Gorka and husband Paul of St. Louis, Missouri; three brother-in-laws, Henry Honea and wife Deann of Amarillo, Jim Honea of Temple, John Honea of Pensacola, Florida; numerous special nieces and nephews; and four very special friends, Randy Brown and wife Lynn of Canyon, Greg Reynolds of Amarillo, Leonard Neusch and wife Marie of Amarillo and Tommy Mitchell and wife Linda of Waco.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Jim and John for never leaving Gary’s side while he was in hospice, to the doctors and nurses at Texas Oncology and the Amarillo Surgical Group, Dr. Hollaway and Julie, and also to Dr. Baay and Kayla for the wonderful care he received at BSA Hospice of the Southwest.
