Kayla Jeanne Johnson, 48, formerly of Fayette, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born May 5, 1968, in Morenci, MI to Curtis and Jeanne (Kenbeek) Johnson. They survive.
Kayla attended Evergreen Schools in her youth, loved sports, and was a Vikings Cheerleader. She enjoyed helping on the family farm and was active in 4-H. Kayla was a skilled pianist, and her love of music carried throughout her life.
Kayla had been a resident at Sunshine Home in Wauseon for over 20 years, where she was an active member in the daily vocational program known as REACH through the Fulton County Board of DD, and currently she was a member of the Sunshine Community Center. She spent her days with a sense of purpose. She was given choice and opportunity for growth through various activities and recreation, leisure, arts, and community events. She brought a sense of humor to the group in which everyone enjoyed. Her smile would light up a room when she flashed her baby blue eyes as her way of communication.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Fayette, are her brothers, Craig (Dawn) Johnson and Cris (Monika) Johnson all of Fayette; three nephews, Codi, Cole, and Cade; two nieces, Taylor and Alexis; and numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and extended family.
A memorial service for Kayla will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fayette United Methodist Church with Pastors Andrea Curry and Kathy Currier officiating. The burial committal will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, from 2-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette.
