Brian Lee Reynolds, 55, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Monroe, SD. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14 at East Side Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 13 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Brian Reynolds, son of Frank and Dorothy Reynolds, was born May 19, 1958 in Sioux Falls, SD. While attending Washington High School, Brian cultivated his love of auto mechanics. In 1976 he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps. Following his honorable discharge in 1979 Brian attended SDSU in Brookings SD, where he received his Bachelor of Sciences and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering. After completing his Masters (1986), Brian moved to Washington State and continued his education in mechanical and aerospace engineering, while employed at the Naval Underseas Warfare Engineering Station.

An avid hunter, fisherman and trapper, Brian was happiest on the water. While living in Edmonds, Wash., Brian enjoyed taking people charter fishing on his boats the “Eagle” and “Fish Tales.” In the late ’90s, Brian relocated back to South Dakota and became an advocate and mentor for South Dakota Trappers Association. Brian spent the last several decades working diligently to maintain and secure the rights and welfare for trappers and hunters in the state of South Dakota.

Brian’s “best catch” and life partner, Kim (Sheetz) Geier, Monroe, SD, shared Brian’s passion and love of the outdoors. Brian was a father and grandfather figure to Kim’s children Philip, Laura and Jennifer: and seven grandchildren, Jada, Michael, Milo, Ellie, Korbin, Ivy and Elijah. As a family, they enjoyed spending time at Lake Madison as well as their new property on Lake Albert, where Brian was planning the annual Fishing Derby.

Grateful for having shared his life are his significant other, Kim Geier, Monroe, SD; mother, Dorothy Reynolds, Sioux Falls; sister Debby (Ron) Hopkins, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Mary Anne Reynolds, Idaho Falls, ID; and nephews Aaron (Liz) Hopkins, Plymouth, MN., Michael Reynolds and Christopher Reynolds, Idaho Falls, ID.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Frank Reynolds; brother, Bruce Reynolds; and loyal companion, Gunner.
