Charles, 94, Cairo, died at 8:55 a.m., at Otterbein.

He was the son of Emil and Lula (Garner) Altstaetter. On Sep 22, 1946, he married Louise Vandemark, who survives at Primrose Retirement Community, Lima.

Also surviving are three sons: Michael (Mary Jo), Bellefontaine, Gail (Melinda), Lima, and Dennis (Nancy), Wendell, NC; a daughter, Carol (Charlie) Doseck, New Knoxville; a sister, Roas Lee (Dick) Greenway, Pandora; and eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a brother linked below; a son-in-law, Dennis Katterheinrich; and a great-grandson.

Having served in the Army during WWII, he was a member of the Cairo American Legion Post, where he had served as Commander. He worked as a tool and die maker at Westinghouse for 40 years. He was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple. He enjoyed working in his print shop, gardening and woodworking. He found pleasure in making small plaques with Bible verses in numerous languages, which he shared with many people including missionaries throughout the world.

Services will be at Lima Baptist Temple, with Pastor Gary Hohman officiating. Burial to follow at Altstaetter Cemetery, with Military Rites by Columbus Grove American Legion and VFW Color Guard.
