Donald T. Rhoads, Sr., 93, formerly of Cloverton Drive, Columbia, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Anne's Retirement Community where he had resided for the past four years. He was the husband of the late Marie Scheuchenzuber Rhoads with whom he was married 59 years until her death in 2009. A lifelong Columbia resident, he was the son of the late Jacob and Margaret Temple Rhoads.

Don was a veteran of WWII having proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Upon his honorable discharge, he was employed as a cataloger for the federal government for 30 years. In addition, he worked as a self-employed tinsmith, specializing in colonial lighting tin ware. A member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbia he served as Past Commander of the American Legion Post 372, Columbia and was a member of the F&AM Lodge 286. Don enjoyed antiquing and rose gardening.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of St. Anne's Retirement Community for the excellent care given to Don during his stay there.

He is survived by his children, Donald T. Rhoads, Jr.; Brenda wife of Dr. John Jensen; Darlene wife of Larry Pruett; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Jay P. Rhoads and sisters, Margaret Flinchbaugh and Emma Schum.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sixth and Locust Sts., Columbia, PA 17512 on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Beth Costlow, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may view at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service. Kindly omit flowers.
