STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Johnny Wayne Stewart, Sr., age 67, died Thursday at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

The Portal, Georgia native was a graduate of Portal High School. Johnny was employed with Mike and Deborah Hatten as the service manager of H&H Service Center for 32 years, retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Statesboro Bible Baptist Church. Johnny loved the Lord with all of his heart. He loved horses, fishing, working on old cars and spending Sunday afternoons eating roast and watching westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Stewart; a son, Jay Stewart; and a grandson, Blake Hendrix.

Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years, Pamela Stewart of Statesboro; his children, Thomas "Buddy" Stewart of Panama City, FL; Johnny Stewart Jr. of Statesboro; Gary Mobley of Tifton; Shalah Hendrix and Brittany Parish, both of Statesboro; one brother, David Stewart of Statesboro; his grandchildren, Blair, Blake and Lainey Hendrix; Layton Stewart, Reagan and Jackson Stewart and Chloe Hendrix; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Tinkerbell.

The family will receive visitors on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Statesboro Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Edmisten officiating.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bennett Family Cemetery in Jenkins County.

Pallbearers will be Alex Morris, Steve McDaniel, Alex Graham, Bryan Moseley, Blake Hendrix and Tommy Hendrix.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
