GILBORNE. On the 25th ult., at Yenikale, Crimea, aged twenty-one, John H. Gilborne, Assistant-surgeon 71st Highland Light Infantry, son of the late Capt. Edward Gilborne, Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, and formerly of the same Regiment. (Morning Post, 16 Feb 1856, page 8)
One unofficial record says he died of disease.
Two of his brothers died shortly after him: William Percival GILBORNE, Lieut. in the 1st West Indies Regt, died of fever at Bathurst, W. Africa on 27 Aug 1859; and James Luffingham GILBORNE, Chaplain to H.M. Forces, died of yellow fever at St. Ann's, Barbados on 31 Aug 1862.
