He was born on November 18, 1929, in Asher, Arkansas, to Frank Marion and Mary Ellen Ledbetter Atha.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his five sisters, Pearl Smith, Sarah Atha, Clara Drain, Jewell Wilson, and Enid Couch; and his three brothers, Francis Atha, Lawrence Atha, and Lewis Atha.
Arnold was a life-long farmer who raised chickens and beef cattle. He was also a heavy equipment operator in the field of construction and road building. He also served in the army during the Korean conflict
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Nettie J. Atha of the home; his son, Duane Atha of Fayetteville; his daughter, Linda Dash and husband Richard of Lincoln; his former daughter-in-law, Karin Atha of Fayetteville; and his very special granddog, Bear.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Dunaway Cemetery at 8395 Madison 5205, Elkins, Arkansas.
