In Memory of Lois J. Reisinger Orbin
June 12, 1930 ~ February 10, 2017
Lois J. Orbin was born June 12, 1930, on a farm near Waco, Nebraska to Clarence and Mae (Hiatt) Reisinger. She went to heaven on Friday, February 10, 2017, at the Sunrise Country Manor in Milford, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 29 days.
As a young girl, Lois attended Waco Public School and graduated with the class of 1947. Lois furthered her education by attending York College where she studied music.
On July 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Clarence “Gene” Orbin in North Platte, Nebraska, and to this union two children, a daughter, Mae, and a son, George, were born.
Together they lived in Aurora, Grand Island, and York, Nebraska, before moving to Friend, Nebraska in 1957. Lois loved to garden, raising flowers and vegetables and sharing the bounty with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time camping with her family and at family gatherings.
Lois was a member of the United Church of Christ, Friend, where she taught Sunday school. Years ago, she was one of the first women to coach the girls’ softball teams in Friend and many of her players have very fond memories of their special coach. Lois was also a girl scout leader.
She enjoyed making crafts of all kinds and was talented with music, playing the piano, violin, clarinet and singing. Lois was a kind, thoughtful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid bowler for many years, bowling in various bowling leagues and enjoyed trips to state and national tournaments.
Lois is survived by: her husband, Gene; daughter, Mae and Scott Nicholson; son, George and Cheryl Orbin; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Merna and John Coon; sister-in-law, Wanita Schommer; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Winnona Downer and Wanda Collingham; and brother, Adam Reisinger.
Funeral Service on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Friend United Church of Christ. Interment in Andrew Cemetery, Friend.
