Mr. Paul E. Barton, 71, of Resaca, GA, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Gordon Hospital, following two years of declining health.
He was born in Gordon County, GA on August 9, 1945, son of the late Buel and Otha Mae Carey Barton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Barton.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, and was co-owner of Calhoun Plastics, Inc., and Engineered Textile Products, Inc. He loved his family and cherished his many friends, colleagues and faithful employees. He was a member of the Calhoun Elks Lodge - B.P.O.E. #1883, and the Sons of the American Legion, Post #47. He enjoyed the outdoors, and his favorite past time was fishing
Funeral services for Mr. Paul E. Barton were conducted Sunday, February 26th at 3:00 PM from Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Steve Morrow officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. William Roberts officiating.
The Barton family will receive friends at Sugar Valley Baptist Church on Saturday, February 25th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
