Howard Jennings Evans, 89 of Faber passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his residence. Born November 19, 1927 in Albemarle County a son of the late Clarence Evans and Alma Clements Evans.

Howard was retired from Alberene Soapstone Plant and all of his adult life was a self-employed timber man and owned and operated his own sawmill at Schuyler.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jane Napier Evans, two daughters, Diane G. Evans (Doc) and Trudy Goode, six sons, Richard J. Evans (Tracy), Steve Evans (Jane), James Evans (Kathy), David Evans (Pat), Clayton Evans (Diane) and Bruce Evans (JoAnn), three brothers Carl Evans, Dewey Evans and Otha Evans, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as his four legged companions Sophia Ann, Cool Hand Luke and Kitty Boe.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the family residence 389 Salem Road Schuyler, Virginia 22969 with Rev. James Jetton officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Howard's memory to the S.P.C.A. Almost Home Pet Adoption Center 29 Stagebridge Road, Lovingston, Virginia 22949.
