Joseph E. Keiser, 68, of Gracedale, formerly of Lower Nazareth Township, Pa, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008 in Easton Hospital. Born: On April 20, 1940 in Wilkes Barre, Pa, he was a son of the late Joseph Edward Keiser and Sarah Schreyer Werkheiser. Personal: He and his wife, the former Esther Derr, celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on March 3, 2008.

Joseph retired from Martin's Sprocket & Gear, where he worked for 18 years. Prior to that, he served in the Army for many years. He served during the Vietnam War, receiving the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with four overseas bars. He volunteered as a mailman and delivered flowers at Gracedale. Memberships: He was a member of Slate Belt Nazareth Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 415, Nazareth, Pa.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by two sons, Thomas Keiser and his wife, Janna of Wind Gap, Pa, and Steven Keiser; a daughter, Lori Keiser of Louisiana; a step-son, Raymond Shafer of Effort, Pa; four step-daughters, Gail Vercruyssen and her husband, Rudolph of Easton, Pa, Ranee Collins and her husband, Randy, and Lori Wilhelm and her husband, Robert, all of Nazareth, and Lisa DiRico and her husband, Domenick of Wexford, Pa; a sister, Kathleen Jensen of Alaska; 14 grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
