Armstrong Whitworth Whitley V Z6667 aircraft, with a crew of six airmen, took flight from its base at RAF Abington, in Oxfordshire, to begin a night operation of bombing practice. A short time later the Whitley appeared to break apart in the air; it then crashed into the ground at Chiselhampton, near Stadhampton, claiming the lives of the entire crew.

The airmen who perished in the aircraft crash were:-
RCAF Sergeant Frederick Coulson ADAMS,
RCAF Sergeant William Archibald BARTLEMAN,
RAF Flight Sergeant Arthur Edward Walter LYNCH,
RAFVR Sergeant Peter Haselden MORRIS,
RAFVR Sergeant George Charles SANDERSON and
RCAF Sergeant Ronald Grant STRATTON.

Sergeant Frederick Coulson Adams is Commemorated on Page 22 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.
Sergeant Adams is also remembered with honour at the family grave monument in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
