Mrs. Yvonne Britton, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:45 PM – Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Yvonne’s life will be held at 1:00 PM – Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Gila Lutheran Cemetery in rural Gila, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the funeral home. Yvonne was born on May 17, 1936, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Rawlings) Dow. She married Beryl “Bake” Britton on August 13, 1966, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1994.
Yvonne worked as a cook at Newton Rest Haven in Newton for over 20 years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed listening to music and working puzzles.
