Fred Howard Olson, age 80, of Renville, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.
Fred Howard Olson was born on August 2, 1928, in Sacred Heart Township, Renville County to Fred I. and Amanda (Heidel) Olson. He grew up on the farm west of Renville and graduated from Renville High School. Fred was active in sports both during high school and following graduation. He served his country in the United States Navy, during which time he was stationed in California.
He was united in marriage to Loreen M. Jepson on April 1, 1951, at First Lutheran Church in Renville. Fred farmed the Olson and Jepson family farms until retiring in 1993. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and served as church president. He served on several boards including the elevator and co-op boards. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Renville. Fred also had his private pilot license and enjoyed flying his own airplane, and fishing.
Survivors include his children: Paul, Julie and William; his grandchildren: Heidi, Samantha, Wyatt, Betsey, Joanna, Katie, Tricia, Myles, and Grant; his great grandchildren: Grace, Shane, and Lauren; his brother and sister, Martin and Janet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Loreen, and his brother Allen.
