Obituary for Mary Eloise Shank

Shank, Mary E. age 98, of Dayton, Ohio, died Sunday, February 19 at Miami Valley Hospital from pneumonia.

She was born and raised in Davey, West Virginia, was a graduate of Welsh High School, and also Williamson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, West Virginia in 1942. Mary worked as a registered nurse at several Dayton area hospitals until her retirement from Kettering Memorial Hospital in 1984 where she was head nurse on the postpartum unit. Always busy, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Religion and Philosophy from Wright State University at the age of 78. She quietly volunteered her time to help others throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brother, Raymond; sisters, Geneva and Janet; step-son Thomas; and step-daughter Mary Ellen.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Brien) Dyer; grandchildren Erin Perdu (Loc), Jennifer Hauk (Gregory), and great-grandchildren Max Perdu, Titus Hauk, Ryan Wasky, Derek (Brittany) Hauk, and Devon Hauk.

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1771 E. Dorothy Lane. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial in Valley View Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.morris.sons.com.
