Mrs. Charles Deering McCormick, 97, Philanthropist and Civic Leader MCCORMICK, NANCY HOSKINSON, a prominent philanthropist in the arts and education sectors passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Miami surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Miami, FL and Seal Harbor, ME; Mrs. Charles Deering McCormick died the evening of February 18, 2017. She and her late husband, Mr. Charles Deering McCormick, were supporters of numerous causes, including Northwestern University, the preparatory Groton School in Mass., the Deering Estate at Cutler, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, and Planned Parenthood. The couple also were benefactors of the Art Institute of Chicago and many other charities. Mrs. McCormick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hilleary G. Hoskinson, was born November 11, 1919 in the District of Columbia where her father was the Senior Vice President of Riggs National Bank. She graduated from the Holton Arms School in Washington, D.C. in 1938 and married her late husband in Washington, D.C. on December 27, 1947. Mrs. McCormick was active in many civic, charitable and social organizations and was cherished my many friends in Miami, Seal Harbor, Chicago, and other places. Mrs. Charles Deering McCormick was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and her son, Hilleary Hoskinson McCormick. Survivors include granddaughter, Nancy, and beloved great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Cyra, daughter-in-law Katherine McCormick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
