James T. Lear, 85, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at his home. James was born in Phillipsburg, NJ on August 25, 1929 to the late Charles C. and B. Elizabeth Hendershot Lear.

James was draftsman at Ingersoll-Rand of Phillipsburg for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1947. James served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, and loved watching all of his grandchildren play sports. James was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Phillipsburg, NJ. He and his wife, Janet, were involved with Meals on Wheels and Sunny Seniors.

James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Marx Lear; sons, Bruce Lear and his wife, Sandra; Stephen Lear and his wife, MaryLou; Scott Lear and his partner, Steve Peterson; daughters, Susan Budsock and her husband, Roy; Lynn Stocker and her husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Kenneth, Trevor, Sara, Andrew, MaryKate, Shannon, Bryanna, Jonathan, and Catherine; and a great-grandson, Cullen. He was predeceased by brothers, Leroy, Donald, Lester, Albert, and Charles; and a sister, June DiGirolamo.

Services for James will be private, at the convenience of the family. The Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Pkwy; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 has been entrusted with the arrangements.
