Sandra Lynn Sturman Copeland, 56, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away Feb. 20, 2017, at a local hospital in Texarkana, Texas. Sandra was born November 13, 1960 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas at Clark County Memorial Hospital. Sandra was the youngest of five children born to Betty and John Sturman.
Sandra graduated from New Boston High School in 1980. She married at a young age and soon after graduation began working as a teaching assistant. At 22, Sandra was in a tragic automobile accident that left her wheelchair bound. After extensive rehabilitation and determination, she was able to cook and occupy her time with her hobbies, which included maintaining a beautiful garden, sewing and hemming, reading, and map pencil art. Her greatest loves in life were her two children CaSandra and Joe. She referred to them as her babies well into their 20’s and 30’s. To everyone who knew her she will be remembered as a rambunctious and fiery woman who aged on the outside but never outgrew the energy of her youth.
Sandra is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo Sturman; father John Hoyal Sturman; brother Jimmy Wayne Sturman and loving sister Carolyn Kay Lemons.
She is survived by her two children CaSandra Lynn Johnson and Joe Edward Copeland, III both of Texarkana, Texas, by three sisters; Becky Nowlin and Jo’Nell Sturman of New Boston, Texas and Linda York of Wake Village, Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the pavilion of Chapelwood Memorial Garden, 826 S. Kings Hwy., Nash, Texas 75501. Interment will be in the Chapel Rose section where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved mother.
