Sandra "Miss Sandy" Holley Stokes
August 23, 1943 - February 19, 2017

Sandra Holley Stokes, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Pensacola, FL. "Miss Sandy" was born in Shreveport, LA to Leon Hodges Holley and Pearl Peterson Holley but called Pensacola her home for over 35 years.

In her early thirties she spent several years living in Naples, Italy with her first husband Terry Dale Roy, a Navy officer, and her only child Christopher Lane Roy. She credited that transformative experience with opening her eyes to the worlds of art and culture which were to be her great passions for the rest of her life.

She enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career as a legal assistant with the firm of Levin Papantonio, working with Lefferts L. Mabie, Jr. and his team. She considered her friends and colleagues at the firm a second family. Sandra also drew great joy and comfort from her membership at Trinity Presbyterian Church and from her role as an elder at the church.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Winston Hodges Holley and her husband of 21 years, Charles W. Stokes.

She is survived by her devoted only son, Christopher Lane Roy and a family of friends whom she dearly loved, most notably Barbara Spraggins, Carol Moore and Pat and David Vaughan.

Sandra will be remembered for her kindness and her generous spirit, as a gracious hostess, and a woman of great wit, poise and dignity. She drew enormous strength and comfort from her faith.

A Memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, FL at 10am Saturday, March 4, 2017. A reception will follow the service in the church parlor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Care Ministry at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3400 Bayou Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32503 and Covenant Inpatient Hospice Center at West Florida Hospital, 8383 N. Davis Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32514.
