LA MARQUE—Jo Ann “Dee Dee” Robinson, 69, a long time resident of Galveston, TX entered eternal rest peacefully at her home in La Marque, TX on Monday, February 20, 2017.

Jo Ann was born on December 4, 1947, in Galveston, Texas, to the late C.C. Robinson and Josephine Wells Robinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Shirley Annette “Tootsie” Robinson, and brothers, Charley Robinson Jr. and Samuel Robinson; aunts, Lee Esther Marshall, Geneva Jones, Corelia Allen, and Hazel Jackson; and uncle, Frank Wells, Jr..

“Dee Dee,” as she was affectionately known by friends and family, attended Galveston Public Schools and is a proud 1966 graduate of Central High School. Jo Ann is also a graduate of City College of San Francisco Nursing Program. For nearly 40 years, Jo Ann was employed at American National Insurance Company in Life Claims.

She was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court #20, Holy Rosary (Holy Family Parish) Ushers, and President of the Sunday Morning Breakfast Club. Jo Ann loved to travel. She enjoyed visiting with friends, and her passion was spending time cooking with her family. She celebrated the triumphs of her daughter and two grandchildren, and was the rock of their family.

Jo Ann left to cherish memories is her beloved daughter, Shalonda “Pookie” Robinson; sister, Brenda Diane Mullins (Jeffrey); devoted sister-in-law, Annie Laurie Robinson; devoted niece, Angela Ambroise (Kennedy) of Spring, TX; nephews, Andre Robinson (Katrina) of Galveston, Charley Robinson III of Houston, and Jeffrey Mullins III; grandchildren, Dr. David “D.J.” Robinson-Morris of New Orleans and Delisha Robinson-Morris of Galveston; cousins, Barbara Stanley (James) of Galveston, Donald Marshall Sr. (Jaime), and Anthony Marshall (Sonya) all of Houston; a host of great nieces and nephews; and devoted friends including: best friend, Henrietta Conley, Godmother, Addie Rita Guidry; Goddaughter, Dorothy Henderson; special nurse, Crystal Marshall; and the Central High School Class of 1966.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 9 AM. and the Rosary will begin at 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish located at 1010 35th Street, Galveston, TX.

Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
