Services for Mrs. Glenda Day Murphy, age 75, of Hattiesburg, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the McLain Church of God with Bro. Lewis Maples and Bro. Bobby Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Providence Cemetery.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of the McLain Church of God and worked for many years as a cook at several nursing homes and hospitals. She had a passion to share the love of Jesus and did so by preaching his word for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Murphy; her son, Greg King, and her daughter Donna Swanner.
She is survived by her son, Ralph Swanner of McLain; her daughter, Ruby L. Avent of Mt. Olive; her grandchildren, Martha Faircloth and Joni Avent; her great grandchildren, Nicholas Faircloth and Michael Faircloth; her brothers, Lamar Day and Joel Day, and her sister, Edith Todd.
Visitation for Mrs. Murphy will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the McLain Church of God.
