Florence Hanson was born on March 2, 1920, in Clara City, Minnesota, to Herman and Gertie (Abbas) Decknadel. She was baptized at Bethany Reformed Church on August 1, 1920. At the age of 10, she and her family moved to Hector where she finished the 8th grade. She worked as a maid in many places. On November 11, 1940, she married Arnold Hanson and together they raised their four children. She has been a member of First Lutheran Church all of her married life. At church she was active in the ladies aid, choir, quilting group, wedding coordinator, and the alter guild. She was on the task force during the building to the Renville Community Center, a member of and past president of the VFW Auxiliary, and captain for the United Appeal. Following retirement, she and her husband went on trips visiting their children and giving them a hand whenever they could. Florence especially enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting, and making crafts.
Florence is survived by her children: Marlys, Wayne and James; her two sisters: Linda Dvorshak and Marcella Abner; her brother Arnold; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Shirley, and three brothers and three sisters.
