Marvel “Rose” Hendry, 83, of Croswell passed away on February 15, 2017.
She was born on June 15, 1933 in Jeddo, daughter of the late Thomas and Mae McLane.
After graduating from Croswell High School, she married Robert Hendry on October 20, 1951.
Rose was a proud member of KOPS (Keep off Pounds Sensibly) for 18 years. She was a lifelong member of Community of Christ (RLDS) church, serving as an ordained Elder for 28 years, some of those years as Pastor. Rose was, also District Women’s Leader, for Community of Christ, Sunday School teacher and an especially beloved director of Vacation Bible School for many years. She worked at Tru-Value for 27 years, served as a 4-H and Girl Scout leader, and worked tirelessly in behalf of Outreach International. Rose loved singing, dancing, roller skating, playing cards, swimming, traveling (to all 50 states), and especially walking every day. Another of “Rosie’s” favorite things to do was faithfully donating blood (17 gal.) with Robert.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert, whom she called, “her life,” three children, Cleo (John) Barrett of MI, Laurie (Tim) Decker of MO, and Crystal (Bill) Embry of MO; grandchildren: John and Jared Barrett, Rachel Green, Harmony Crocker, Christopher Decker, Julia Schubert, Billy Embry II, Rebecca Vipperman, and great-grandchildren: Olivia and Annabelle Barrett, Henry Crocker, John Patrick Barrett, Ben and Elliot Embry, Mikalyn and Maverick Vipperman, Jackson and Jace Schubert, and two sisters, Helen Badgerow and Sylvia Erbe.
