Visitation 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Locke Funeral Home, 1519 W 4th St., Waterloo.

Burial in West View Cemetery, La Porte City, Iowa.

Lloyd Daniel Hummel, 93, of Waterloo died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Lloyd was born March 25, 1923 in La Porte City, Iowa the son of Charles Percival and Bertha Lucretia McCall Hummel.
 
He married Dorothy Dutler August 26, 1945 at First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.
                         
Lloyd attended school in La Porte and graduated from La Porte City High School in 1941 and then from Gates Business School and Hamilton College with a degree in Accounting.  He worked for Rath Packing Co for 38 years.  He also worked for Rousselow Hatchery, and the National Cattle Congress as a livestock clerk and accountant for 30 years.
 
Lloyd was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer for 20 years.  He was North Central Iowa Presbytery Treasurer for 10 years; a member of Waterloo Exchange Club and Rath Management Club.
 
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Waterloo, two daughters: Diane (Stan) Ernster of Hudson and Denise (Mike) Brown of Waverly; two sons: Donald (KC) Hummel of Elk Horn and David (Pat) Hummel of Batavia, Illinois; 11 Grandchildren: Heather (Shawn) Murphy, Justin (Amelia) Hummel, Jenni Ernster, Cari OBrien, Erin (Chad) Hagen, Christa Ernster, Dawn (Derrick) Clanton, Tyler Hummel, Jamie Hummel, Tiffany (Brandt) Allio, Cody (Jordan) Brown; and 16 Great Grandchildren: Bailey, Cade, and Ella Murphy; Koby Shelton; Joey, Amber Skyler, and Damon OBrien, Arianna, Ellyanna, Kayleanna, Bo, Lilyanna, and Eric Hagen; Spencer and Theo Clanton; Eliana Lemm.  He is also survived by a nephew Doug Dutler and a niece Deb Dutler.
 
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Russell, Daryl, and Guy; a sister Betty; great grandson Reece Shelton; 5 nieces and 2 nephews; brother in law Bob Dutler, and sister in law Louise Dutler.
