Calvin Garnett Collins, 84, of Danville, passed away on February 19, 2017, at Danville Medical Center. He was born on August 23, 1932, in Pittsylvania County, son of Ryland G. Collins and Catherine Gatewood Collins. He lived most of his life in Swansonville and Danville where he graduated from Whitmell Farm Life School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After thirty years, he retired as a salesman from Home Beneficial Life Insurance. He began his Christian life in Swansonville United Methodist Church serving on many committees but was most proud of serving as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Later he became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Carroll Collins, Milton Collins, and Douglas Collins; a baby sister. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park
