Joe Chris Sullivan

Joe Chris Sullivan of Shreveport, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, February 18, 2017. He was predeceased by his father, Richard J. Sullivan of Lake Charles, LA. He will be sadly missed by his mother, Ludy Doll Sullivan of Ellerbe Road in Shreveport; and by his brother and sisters: Charlie Doll Sullivan (Diane) of Prescott, AZ; Dr. Helen L. Sullivan of San Antonio, TX; Dr. Loretta S. Swan (Steve) of Charleston, SC; Alma Ann Gertis (Neill) of Shakopee, MN; and Howard F. Sullivan of Shreveport, formerly of Honolulu, HI.

Of Joe’s many nieces and nephews, Charlie D. Sullivan, Jr. of Lake Arrowhead, CA, Christopher E. Crabtree of Austin, TX and Aric LaFluer of Colfax, WA will attend the funeral service and serve as pallbearers. Cousins, Sidney Hoover of New Braunfels, TX and Fred Reagor of Fort Worth, TX, and brother-in-law, Stephen H. Swan of Charleston, SC will also serve as pallbearers.

Joe went to law school with his sister, Helen in New Orleans. He subsequently taught at Grace King High School in Metairie for over 30 years as a math teacher with his Master’s degree. Hurricane Katrina displaced him to Shreveport. In the next phase of his life he worked as a real estate property owner including land on Ellerbe Road and Blanchard, LA. His passion in life was collecting license plates and antique cars. He and his brother, Howard traveled together to many car shows in surrounding states. Joe Chris was an Eagle Scout and member of Holy Trinity Church. Joe’s great grandfather was Howard F. Doll of Shreveport, LA.

Visiting from out of town for the services are Joe’s Niece, Charlotte LaFluer and grand nieces, Sara and Daisy LaFluer.

Graveside services for Joe will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave., in Shreveport, LA. Family will be available for visitors at the graveside before and after the service.
