Bennie Lee Green, age 86, US Air Force retired, departed this life on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from his home in Oklahoma City. He was born August 28, 1930 to Albert and Elnora (Wheeler) Green in Atwood, Kansas. He grew up in Atwood and was a 1950 graduate of Atwood High School. After graduation he joined the US Air Force where he spent the next twenty years proudly serving his country as an aircraft mechanic. During his Air Force career he had been stationed in Newfoundland and Japan as well as stateside in Virginia, Louisiana, California, Texas and Kansas. After retirement he worked various jobs as a handyman, he also was a school bus driver for special need children, a job he dearly loved. He was a member of Discovery Church in Yukon, OK. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Louese, Dollie and Julia, three brothers Victor, Bernard and Virgil. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Doris of the home, two sons Fred Phillip Green and wife Mary Ann of Lenexa, Kansas, Steven Lee Green and wife Carla of Yates Center, Kansas, two daughters Katherine Annette Crouch and husband Les of Mustang, Oklahoma and Renetta Dorisjean Green and husband Daniel of Fredonia, Kansas. Also by fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Services will be held at 10am on Saturday February 18, 2017 at Discovery Church, Yukon, Oklahoma with interment to follow on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 9am in Ft. Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, Kansas under the direction of McNeilβs Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Discovery Church Building Fund.
