Dr. Douglas Stuart Hoy, age 77, passed away February 18, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born March 28, 1939 in Urbana, Illinois to Harry and Eldora (Larsen) Hoy.
He attended Norman High School ('57), completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma ('60), and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska ('64). He lived in Norman, Oklahoma, for many years and was in private practice as an oral surgeon for 39 years, retiring in 2006.
He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and many professional organizations including the Xi Psi Phi International Dental Fraternity and the Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
His free time was spent woodworking at home, traveling the world, and exploring America in his camper, stopping to fish at every opportunity. Dr. Hoy was a music lover, and enjoyed listening to choral, orchestral and piano performances. His favorite productions were from The Pride of Oklahoma, the OU Marching Band. Aside from his daughters, OU Football was his greatest passion and he had been a season ticket holder since 1964.
He is survived by: his two daughters, Kathy Hoy and Lori Hoy; brother, Don Hoy.
He was preceded in death by: his former wife, Laurelyn (Buller) Hoy; father and mother, Harry and Eldora Hoy; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Hoy.
Services on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Roper and Sons Funeral Chapel, Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial will be at Danish Cemetery in Davey, Nebraska.
