Roger Dale Thornton, age 69, of Fayetteville, TN passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born on September 25, 1947 in Lincoln County, TN, son of the late James A. & Thelma McGee Thornton. He was a former diesel mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his wife, Mary Margaret Thornton.
He is survived by his daughters: Jill Murdock and Sheila Marler both of Fayetteville, TN; sons: Dale (Marcie) Thornton, Joseph (Tori) Simmons and Ronald Ashby all of Fayetteville, TN; sister: Norma Higgs of Fayetteville, TN; brothers: Ronald (Bernice) Thornton of Newberry, FL and Eddie (Judy) Thornton of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren: Anna Marie Thornton, Melana Murdock, Miranda Murdock, Zachery Yarbrough, Daniel Yarbrough, Anthony Simmons and Marquis Edmonson; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
