Russell C. Turner, 95, formerly of Youngstown, OH, passed away the evening of February 19, 2017 at Edison Manor. Born on July 9, 1921 in Covington, VA, he was the son of the late George C. and Gertrude McDowell Williams Turner.

Russell retired as a construction worker. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He was a former member of Second Baptist Church.

Russell is survived by his nieces, Patti J. Harris of New Castle and Nina L. Murphy of Houston, TX, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Williams, sister, Dorothy Gilmore, nephew, Frederick D. Gilmore Jr., great-niece, Bre’Na Harris, and great-nephew, Frederick D. Gilmore III.

Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours, and services are private.

Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
