Rev. Sluder was born in Courtenay, SC (aka, Newry, SC) , July 21, 1935, to late parents Granville Douglas & Pearlie Cleo Morton Sluder. He served as pastor of Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville, Madison Baptist Church in Westminster and as interim pastor for many other churches in Oconee County. He was Minister of Music & Youth at Parkway Baptist Church in Seneca and Clearmont Baptist Church in Westminster. He is a member of Clearmont Baptist Church in Westminster. Mr. Sluder is a well known Southern Gospel Singer in the Upstate of South Carolina. He and his fellow singers recorded cd's and won several gospel singing competitions in the southeast. Mr. Sluder also worked at J.P. Stevens Clemson plant as a mechanic in the sewing dept. Member Seneca Masonic Lodge #185 & Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #5.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Alice James, Frances Sluder, and Ida Leroy, and brothers Clyde and J.B. (Jake) Sluder. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Jean, daughter Susan of the home, son Bobby & wife Cindy, son Tommy & wife Marva, 5 grandchildren, Kellie, Michael, Chad, Sheena, and Courtney, sister Ossie Crenshaw and brother E.C. (Pete) Sluder and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 4:30 pm Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Brown-Oglesby Chapel, with burial in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Scott Lee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at funeral home.
