A 1971 graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Mr. Claude Love Moore, Jr., 67, previously of Rock Hill, S.C., died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare System-Union.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church with Revs. Jeff Bryan and Jane Summey officiating. Burial will be private.

Born in Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Moore was a son of the late Claude Love Moore, Sr. and the late Annie Lyle Williams Moore. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Susan McCrae Moore. He was the great-great-grandson of the founding father of Rock Hill, Alexander Templeton Black, who donated the land which established Rock Hill's original boundaries.

He was a 1971 history major graduate of The Citadel where he was Master of Revels. He was a member of The Citadel Rod & Gun Club and was a manager of the basketball team. He also was a member of The Citadel History Club. He remained very close to his Citadel brothers throughout his life. He began his banking career at Home Federal of Rock Hill and a milestone in his career was being the founder and president of The Bank of Rock Hill.

He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish with friends. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Jordan Moore; his son, Claude Love Moore, III "Trey"; his daughter, Mary Carolyn Moore; his brother, Leslie Williams Moore, Sr.; his in-laws, William Jacob Jordan, Jr. and Lurline Vaughn Jordan; his brother-in-law, William Lamar Jordan (Deborah); his nephews, Leslie Williams Moore, Jr., Alexander McCrae Moore, and William Jacob Jordan, III (Stephanie); his nieces, Jennifer Jordan Stipp (Derrick) and Bridget Bailey Baker; his great-nephew, Matthew Tyler Stipp; and his great-niece, Bailey Virginia Baker.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the home of Leslie Moore, Sr., 375 Bromley Road, Rock Hill, S.C. (Heathwood Forest).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Moore's name to Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, STAR Program, 421 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
