MULLINS - Mrs. Loretta Capps Collins, 90, widow of Daniel Stephen Collins, passed away at home, Saturday, February 18, 2017, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Collins was born September 25, 1926 in Marion County, a daughter to the late Julius Walter Capps and the late Minnie Viola Snipes Capps.
Loretta, as everyone knew her was owner of Winkie's Florist in Mullins for 37 years, where she loved working with flowers and decorating. She worked and helped many young ladies over the years with their flowers. Mrs. Collins was also co-owner of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, Smith-Collins Funeral Home and Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. She was a member of Gapway Baptist Church, she loved her church and her church family. She was a member of the WMU and several church organizations.
Surviving Mrs. Collins are her two sons, Daniel Wayne (Joyce) Collins of Mullins and Christopher Stephen (Laurie) Collins of Houston, TX; a brother, Donald C. (Betty) Capps of Columbia; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons; and 4 great step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Loretta was predeceased by three sisters and five brothers, and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon, February 21 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Stephen D. Bailey and Rev. Jason Brewer officiating. Entombment will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum.
