Born January 29, 1947, passed away February 16, 2017 in West Valley City, Utah.
John was born to Max Petersen and Lillian Selan in Salt Lake City, Utah. Graduated from Granger High school in 1965. Married Claire Carlsen on May 10, 1969. Together they had 3 wonderful children. They later divorced. He married Joyce Crandall on September 16, 2000.
John's passions in life were his children, grandchildren and his 1967 Chevelle SS. He loved the outdoors, camping, car shows, drinking coffee with the guys at Delton Lanes and taking his dogs for walks.
John worked several years at Kennecott Utah Copper and retired from AW Fors Machine Shop. He is survived by his children; Paula (Brett) Kennedy, Lisa (Mike) Casey, Kelly (Angi) Petersen. His wife, four step children, and many grandchildren. His sisters; Judy (Boyd) Bullock, Sherry (Larry) Lefler, Stephanie Booth, brothers; Kenny (Lori) Petersen, Steven (Nannette) Petersen and step-brother Rodney Morris as well as his best friend Mike Giles and many other extended family and friends.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, February 25, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 10 West 4th Avenue, Murray, Utah from 4 to close. Feel free to bring your classic cars. Children are welcome.
