Marion "Ollie" Oliver, 70 of Midland, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017. The family will be accepting guests at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Funeral services will be held at North A Church of Christ at 2:00pm on Monday, February 20, 2017 with Pastor Greg Flemming and Fire Chaplain Mike Winford officiating. Ollie was born on October 4, 1946 in Odessa, Texas to Gordon B. and Virginia C. Oliver. After graduating from high school, Ollie enlisted in the United States Navy on March 28, 1966. While in the Navy, Ollie was a member of the Blue Jack Choir. In 1970, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Communications Technician Seaman Apprentice before his final discharge from the Reserves in March of 1972. After returning to civilian life, Ollie became a firefighter and later a paramedic for the Midland Fire Department. Ollie was proud to be one of the first paramedics in Midland and maintained both positions for 23 years. In 1997, Ollie became the Director of the Midland College Regional Fire Academy until 2010. On April 23, 1999, he married his best friend, Robin Oliver. In 2012, Ollie returned to Midland College as a Campus Security Officer and was still employed at the time of his passing. Ollie was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was a loving and proud father to his three children, Jim, Jeri, and Shanann. Some would even argue that his dog, Romeo, was his fourth child. He loved spending his free time with his family, woodworking, bicycling, reading, and playing chess. Ollie was also a very accomplished artist.

Left to cherish Ollie's memory and legacy are his wife, Robin Oliver; children, Jim Morgan and wife Tamra, Jeri Morgan, and Shanann Plaag and husband Zack; step-children, Angie McPherson, Corey Barber, and Tiffany Barber; grandchildren, Ryan Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Dylan Morgan, and Nathan Morgan Colby Bevis, Kendra Bevis, Michael Bevis, Jason Barber, Tailer McPherson, Thomas McPherson, Trinity McPherson, and Savannah Barker; brother-in-law, Sonny Webb; his dog, Romeo; and his Midland Fire Department and Midland College family.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Webb, and his parents. Pallbearers will be family members Corey, Blake, Steven, Greg, Larron, and Zack. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas and Colby. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Midland College Fire Academy, Midland Fire Department, and Midland College Campus Security. In lieu of flowers, contributions for funeral expenses may be made to Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home under Ollie Oliver's name.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.
