Angeline "Angie" Elizabeth (Adams) Stephens of Lynchburg, departed this life on February 17, 2017. Angie was born on February 13, 1930, in Madison Heights, Virginia, to the late Samuel Taylor Adams and Lelia Marie Martin Adams. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Howard Thomas (Steve) Stephens, Jr.; her son, Howard Thomas (Tommy) Stephens III; and siblings, Virginia Eggleston, Samuel Adams, Jr. (in infancy), James Adams, Laymond Adams, and Elsie Ryan. She is survived by her loving children, Michael Barry Stephens (Mary) of Evington, Glenda Stephens Fort (John), and Angela Stephens Stacey of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Anthony Stephens (Julie) and Gregory Stephens (Jana) of Utah, Stephen Petsch, Kimberley Petsch Thomas (Jimmy), Elizabeth Stacey Melcher (Ryan), and Laura Stacey, all of Lynchburg. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Betty Gail Jackson, Beverly Eggleston, Jeffrey Adams, Shirley Fleshman, and RoseAnn White (of Virginia), and Mark Stephens, Pam Beresford and Patty Hurlburt of Florida, as well as six great-grandchildren; and aspecial sister-in-law, Ann Adams. Angie grew up in Madison Heights and graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1947. She was a bookkeeper for several companies in the Lynchburg area, and in 1951 she married Howard Stephens. From 1966 to 1984 the Stephens lived in Florida, where Angie continued her bookkeeping career as well as owned the Ocean Side Hotel in Indialantic with her family. They returned to Lynchburg in 1985 where they owned the Koffee Kup Restaurant for 14 years. Angie was a member of The Well Church. She loved her family, pets, travel and slot machines. One of her favorite trips was in 1994 when she and her husband took a tour with Steve's Army Air Corps Bomb Group to visit points of interest in World War II's European Theater. Visitation for Angie will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017, from 5 until7 p.m. at the Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory, Waterlick Chapel (434) 237-2722. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, beginning at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Tom Bryant officiating. Burial will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park following the services. Contributions in memory of Angie may be made to the American Cancer Society. www.diuguidfuneralservice.com
