OBITUARY:
Richard "Dick" Ackerman, Greenacres, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 after a long and courageous fight against cancer. He was born and raised in Cle Elum, WA, until his family moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where he finished high school.

He went on to attend North Idaho College, Southern Oregon University and Eastern Washington University. He worked for Pacific Northwest Bell and Motorola before opening Industrial Communications Inc., Spokane Valley. Dick managed the business through substantial growth until his retirement.

He loved family and was an avid reader, pilot and engineer. Dick also loved traveling, attending RV rallies, visiting museums and was a lifetime Elks member. He donated much of his time to the Spokane Elks.

Dick is survived by his loving companion, Sandi; son, Rick Ackerman, Jr.; daughter, Kathy Allen (Chris); sister, Carol Wright; brother, Gary Ackerman; four grandchildren: Casey, Sarah, Zeth and Kate; neice, Monica; and nephew, Kevin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, February 25th at Hennessey Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley.

Graveside service will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent Ave., Spokane Valley. A catered memorial will be held at the Spokane Valley Elks, 2605 N. Robie Rd., Spokane Valley.
