The family moved to Redding in 1935.
She passed away on February 2, 2017.
She met her husband to be Tommy Reed while they both attended Shasta High School. They were married on July 10, 1948 and spent 67 wonderful years together.
She and Tommy owned Riverview Market on Bechelli Lane for 30 years, before retiring in 1988.
Mom loved to travel and fish and was ahead of her time and very independent. In the 50's she would hook up her little travel trailer and she, grandma and my brother and I would go to Disneyland or camping at the coast. One year mom and I bought a little motor boat and spent many happy days fishing on Shasta Lake. She was a great cook and made the best fudge and angel food cake with seven minute frosting.
Tom and Mavis traveled all around the United States in their motor home. They also traveled to Hong Kong, China, Tahiti, Australia, and the Panama Canal.
They were avid square dancers with the Shasta Dam Dandies and traveled to many square dances around the country. They spent many summers in McCloud, square dancing and playing golf with friends.
She leaves behind daughter, daughter-in-law, grandsons and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husband Tommy, son James, parents James and Ida Potts, brothers Kenneth and John, and sisters Dorothy and Doris.
