Jennie Lou Bailey, age 78, of Mattoon passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Borntreger officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jennie was born on January 18, 1939 in Rector, AR the daughter of Victor and Katherine (Steffle) Williams. She married Roger G. Bailey on August 10, 1974. He preceded her in death in 2009.
Survivors include her children, Mike Stocks of Mattoon, IL, Terri (Doug) Caraker of Vienna, IL, Vickie (Steve) Shirley of Mattoon, IL, Jason (Michelle) Bailey of Charleston, IL and Kurt (Sonya) Bailey of OK; grandchildren, Travis Caraker of Ocala, FL, Heather (Justin) Gurley of Vienna, IL, Katherine (Craig) Lenz of Gays, IL, D.J. (Harlan) Dyer of Humboldt, IL, Sue Ann Shirley of Mattoon, IL, Levi Bailey of Charleston, IL, Jason James of Charleston, IL and Josie Bailey of OK; five great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.
Jennie was a member of the Marshall Avenue Christian Church in Mattoon. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, shopping, playing bingo and cards. Jennie loved her special friends at Brookstone Estates. Most of all, Jennie cherished spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
