Calvin Lester "Red" Harrington passed away peacefully on May 3, 2009, at 86 years of age. He was born in Issaquah, WA on September 28, 1922 to Eunice (Wood) and Lester D. Harrington. In his younger years he lived in the Issaquah/Seattle area and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1941. He worked at various jobs during the early 1940's, but it was while working at the Lake Washington Ship Yards in Kirkland that he met the love of his life, Fern Eileen Green. He worked in construction, building roads, bridges and dams from Aberdeen, WA to Nehalem, WA. He went on to become a Master Mechanic, fabricator and Quarry Master, working in the mining field most of his life. He designed and built the Circle H Mobile Home Park in Snohomish, WA, and developed his own quarry, Allied Aggregates, now being leased in Mount Vernon, WA.
Red retired at the age of 77 after working for 20 years as a quarry manager and consultant for Merlino Construction at both Stoneway Concrete and Black River Quarry in Renton, WA.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; two brothers, Albert and James Harrington; three sisters, Beverly Cone, Faye Knight, and Winifred Leapley; his son, Wayne Harrington; and his grandson, Clinton Miniken.
