Edna Earle Wiley, age 95, of Sharon, Ohio, entered eternal rest Monday, June 13, 2011, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. She was born September 17, 1915, in Hoskinsville, daughter of the late Charles W. and Weltha Mae Harbaugh Cain. She was a 1933 graduate of Belle Valley High School, attended Marietta College, and graduated from Ohio University in Athens with a degree in education in 1963. Edna was employed as a bookkeeper at R.C. Moore Lumber Company in Caldwell. She taught at Middleburg, Dexter City, and Caldwell Schools, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Noble County Retired Teachers Association and the Noble County Historical Society. She was known for her love of flowers, gardening, knitting, and crocheting, which she shared with family and friends. Edna was an avid reader until she lost her eyesight in 1989.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Wiley, whom she married in 1934, and who died in 1954; a grandson and his wife, David and Peggy Ruppel; a granddaughter-in-law, Jenny Ruppel; one brother, Paul Cain; and one sister, Lucille Marquis.
Surviving are three daughters, Jean (Gerald) Ruppel of Caldwell, Kay Wiley of the home, and Linda Feldner of Cambridge; two sisters, Virginia Walker of Canton and Flossie Lee of Canton; one brother, Charles Cain of Quaker City; five grandchildren Dr. Dennis (Dianna) Ruppel of Gahanna, Gary Ruppel of Caldwell, Larry Ruppel of Caldwell, Diane (Jerry) Emde of Plainwell, Michigan, and James (Lisa) Feldner of Westlake; thirteen great-grandchildren, Molly Ruppel, Meghan Ruppel, Zachary Ruppel, Reva (Brook) Ruppel Steed, Brian Ruppel, Kate Ruppel, Lucas Hughes, Ian Ruppel, Paige Ruppel, Emily Feldner, Abby Feldner, Nickolai Emde and Ivan Emde; two great-great- granddaughters, Hailey and Riley Ruppel; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from 11AM -2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service willl follow at 2PM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Sharon Presbyterian Church or to the Noble County Historical Society.
