Ruth was born the daughter of William H. and Alice J. (Hinkley) Scamman. Ruth passed on at d'Youville Pavilion, where she had resided for the last four years.

Ruth received her education in Weld schools and graduated in 1928, from the Oak Grove School for Girls in Vassalboro. In addition to being a devoted mother, she worked outside of the home at the Bates Manufacturers mill.

She was a member of the Court Street Baptist Church, Auburn and the Pine Cone Chapter 26, OES, Auburn. She enjoyed her many church activities, reading, knitting and painting.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Jurczak of Auburn and Gladys Polland of Casco; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother, Richard H. Scamman; a grandson, Scott Polland; and a great-grandson, Jeff Nelson.
