FISHER, Lewis Beverly, age 81, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on February 16, 2017, after a long and winding journey on this road of life. "Bev" was born in Gordonsville, Virginia, to Clarence Francis Fisher and Eunice Gaskill Fisher on July 20, 1935. He grew up on the family farm in Gordonsville, graduated from Louisa County High School, attended the University of Virginia and played football there in 1953. A work ethic born on the farm and values steeped in the Masonic Core Principles drove Bev's success in life, first in service to his country in the Army from 1954 until 1962. He served in Korea and back at home in the President's Honor Guard. For the rest of his career, Bev's passion for the rig, the road and his scrappy entrepreneurial gifts spawned independent operations that supported the most important part of his life - his family. Our gentle giant's tenacious commitment to his profession has helped so many learn and achieve their dreams. An avid sports fan who brought wisdom from both life on the road and the field to all those around him, his life is an example of "saving some for the fourth quarter." So many have learned and succeeded following our gentle giant's tenacious journey. Left to enjoy his memory and his stories are his wife, Dorothy D. Fisher; his children, Amy F. Carr and Rick; Emiel Fisher and Carole Scott, Thomas and Joy (Harlow) Fisher, Townsend and Jim McLean, Leslie Fisher, Hiliary and David Whitt; 19 grandchildren; sister, Betty Crawford and Linwood; brother, Thomas Fisher; many nieces, nephews, cousins and truck driving friends all around the country. Bev was predeceased by his parents; his sister, June Fisher; and his brother, Charles Fisher. A celebration of Bev's abundant life will be held for friends and family at Woodward Funeral Home, 200 Fredericksburg Rd., Louisa, Virginia on Monday, February 20, at 2 p.m., followed by a service there at 3 p.m. Bev will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa, Virginia. Condolences to the family may be offered at www.woodwardfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund http://truckersfund.org.
