Anthony L. Cook, Jr.

(June 27, 1936 - February 15, 2017)

York, Anthony "Tony" L. Cook, Jr., entered into God's eternal care on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at York Hospital at 4:44 p.m. at the age of 80.

He is the loving husband of Elaine M. (Maureen) Cook.

He was born in Chanceford Township on June 27, 1936 and was the son of the late Anthony L. and Violet V. (Fishel) Cook.

Tony worked at New York Wire Cloth Company in York and then went to Caterpillar, Inc. where he repaired machines, retiring in 1994 after 30 plus years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran.

During his time in the military he worked in the Tank Division and drove for the Company Commander. He was a member of the Cool Creek Golf Club in Wrightsville, a life member of the York Archers and a member of the Red Lion American Legion Post #543. Tony was also actively involved at Steam-O-Rama.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Elaine of York; two daughters, Teresa R. Gable and husband, Eric E. of Felton and Christine D. Jean and husband, Patrick W. of York. Three grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis V. Daugherty of Red Lion; and a brother, Robert G. Cook of Red Lion. Several nieces and nephews.

Viewing for Tony will be on Monday from 9-10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Tony will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Albert R. Horst of Zion United Methodist Church in East Prospect officiating.

Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Tony was a wonderful husband to Elaine to whom he married on June 18, 1960, celebrating 56 years together and a loving Father and Grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tony's memory may be offered to the , 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
