Obituary for Mr. Gary Albert Sherman

Mr. Gary Albert Sherman,age 73 of Escatawpa, MS passed away peacefully at his home on February 16, 2017. Gary was a faithful member of Ridglea Heights Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and “paw paw”.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966- 1968. Upon returning home, he spent 34 years employed at Northrop Grumman. He found much joy in his retirement years. On any given day, he could be found on his his tractor, in the vegetable garden, mowing, taking care of his chickens and goats, or building a creation from recycled materials.
He will be sadly missed by a host of family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynda Sherman, of Escatawpa daughters Pam (Jeffrey) Ryals, of Escatawpa and Christa (Phillip) Erkhart, of Beaumont, grandsons Eli Edward Erkhart and Levi Albert Erkhart, and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his his grandsons Joshua and Jacob Ryals, father Alma Sherman, his mother Bernice Sherman, and his sister Mary Agnes (Phillip) Marschand.
A special thanks to Hospice of Light (Rhonda, Amanda, and many others) for their caring support throughout his long-term illness. Also a special thanks to his dear friends who sat with him on Sundays (Aubrey Busby, Henry Womble, Gary Guessford, Lamar Pipkins (deceased) and many others.
Visitation will be Saturday February 18, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00 pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will begin at 3:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Cirlot officiating. Burial will follow in Four Mile Creek cemetery in Escatawpa.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Ridglea Heights Baptist Church.
