He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Juanita; his three daughters, Stacy and her husband Steve Case, Tiffani and her husband Jacob Alford, and Kristy and her husband Josh Heafner; 10 Grandchildren, Colby, Tyler, Nick, Stephen, Brandon, Colin, Alyssa, Cameron, Kyleigh, and Baby Skylar; two sisters, Nancy and her husband Ricky Teague, and Beverly and her husband Mark Padgett; one brother, Eddie and his wife Georgia Powers; and Gary's step-mom Betty Powers.
Gary served his country as an Army Drill Sargent for 28 years until his retirement. His rank was E-7.
Gary will be remembered as a good husband and father. He was a gentle man who cared for everyone, and did whatever he could to help those in need. He was full of life with an amazing sense of humor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00PM, Sunday, March 6, 2016, at New Hope Baptist Church, 830 Choate Road, Salisbury, North Carolina 28146. Family will receive friends & family from 4:00PM - 5:00PM prior to service. Memorial contributions may be sent to P.O. Box 394, Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina 28124.
